“I will be an outspoken advocate for women’s reproductive rights, and also aggressively defend HB 40, which repealed the Illinois Abortion Law of 1975 – a ban on abortion in our state if Roe v. Wade were overturned – and provides full coverage for abortion under the state Medicaid plan.”
– Sharon Fairley

The American Women’s Party is excited to announce our endorsement of Sharon Fairley for Illinois Attorney General. Fairley has a firm grasp on current issues and policy and their disproportionate affect on marginalized communities. She is committed to using the rule of law and the power of the office of Attorney General to fight for the people of Illinois.

Sharon Fairley was a federal prosecutor with the United States Attorney General’s office for the Northern District of Illinois for eight years. She has also served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Appeals section of the Office of Illinois Attorney General. In December 2015 Sharon Fairley became the Chief Administrator of the Independent Police Review Authority, of which she led the transformation to the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA).

As a federal prosecutor and Chief Administrator for COPA, Sharon Fairley fought to keep illegal firearms off the street and was responsible for investigating and ruling on domestic violence cases involving Chicago Police Officers. She vows to use the rule of law and the power of the office to continue to protect families and children.

“As Illinois Attorney General I will do everything in my power to close these loopholes and protect women, children and families from the devastation that can occur when we allow guns into the hands of domestic abusers.”

“I will be a public advocate for comprehensive immigration reform and a roadmap to citizenship.”
